Big Bear, CA, January 16, 2015 – It was just announced this morning that Brandon McIlrevy, Sydney Peterson, Madeleine Boone, Luke Hannan, and Mckinley Warren of Nate Haston’s Big Bear Middle School STEM class have moved one step closer to having the app they designed become a reality.
Last week they found out they won Best in California for the Verizon Innovative App Challenge with the mobile app concept they designed. This morning they were notified that their team is one of 6 Best-in-the-West regional winners. This honor earns them a $5000 grant for the STEM or science, technology, engineering, and math program at BBMS and puts them in the running for the National title.
Next week they will present their app, titled Survive in Big Bear, to a panel of judges via webinar. National winners will be announced February 3rd.
