Big Bear, Ca, September 12, 2011, 12:00pm – This weekend Big Bear’s own 11 year old Drayden Gardner hosted a skateboarding contest at the Sugarloaf skateboard park. The contest was Drayden’s way of thanking the community for all of their support over the past few years while he has competed in skateboarding and snowboarding competitions throughout the US. The contest had over 40 participants, and in the 12 and under category Matthew Wilcox took first place followed by Drayden Gardner and Jordan Karasch. In the 13 to 15 category Sean Monahan took first followed by Jaromie Nolan, and David Baird. In the 16 and up category Matt Harvey took first followed by Roy Canright and Charles Richards, and in the girls category Melissa Spillman took first followed by Pauline Branom, and Summer Wilcox. According to Holly Gardner, the event was a huge success, a lot of fun, and $1000 was raised for the Big Bear Teen Center.
