Big Bear Lake, CA, November 6, 2012 – In a written statement released today by Kurt Madden, Superintendent of the Bear Valley Unified School District, he addressed an incident that occurred yesterday, November 5th on a local school campus. At approximately 3:45 pm, it was reported to the administration of the Big Bear Middle School that a handgun was on campus. The administration immediately investigated and was able to locate and confiscate a bb-caliber pistol from a student. Law enforcement was immediately contacted and responded to the report. Madden went on to state that the Big Bear Middle School and Bear Valley Unified School District take matters such as these very seriously. The incident is currently under full investigation and will be resolved in a manner that will ensure the safety of students and faculty.
