Big Bear Lake, CA, February 5, 2014 – After serving a little more than a year on the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District (BVCHD) Board of Directors, Sara Russ is taking the reins. Her fellow board members elected officers last week, and named her President, an election she calls “a rare opportunity that comes with great responsibility.”
Russ joined the BVCHD board in November of 2012, serving on the finance committee. She says her main objectives in 2014 include an affiliation agreement, passing the parcel tax, reducing expenses, increasing patient volume, renegotiating employee union contracts, increasing services through telemedicine, and improving the overall quality of the Skilled Nursing Unit. She is also calling for a profitability analysis of each department.
A Big Bear resident for three decades, Russ previously spent five years as CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, and two years in the Event Resource Office. Other officer assignments include Barbara Willey as 1st Vice President, Christopher Fagan as 2nd Vice President, Barbara Espinoza as Secretary and Donna Nicely as Treasurer.
