Big Bear, Ca, April 26, 2011, 12:00pm –Robin O’Hare, special education teacher and Director of the Visual and Performing Arts program at Northshore Elementary School was presented with the San Bernardino County Distinguished Service Award on April 25th. O’Hare and one other educator received this prestigious award in San Bernardino County. The award, which was established in 1998, celebrated exceptional and distinguished service sustained over many years. According to the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office, the purpose of the award is to recognize dedication and leadership on behalf of public education in San Bernardino County. O’Hare, who has been teaching at Northshore for the past 10 years, came from the Bakersfield area. “I am immensely humbled,” said O’Hare, “I feel like I am receiving this award for everyone at Northshore.” O’Hare who heads the Visual and Performing Arts program at Northshore invited everyone to come and see the latest production, a 1940’s spy spoof, called “Kilroy Was Here.” Showings will take place on Thursday and Friday, with morning and evening performances. O’Hare also told KBHR “as a teacher you never expect it, but someone thought I had this impact on education.” O’Hare was very thankful for the nomination and humbled by receiving the award.
