Joyce Reed, President of the Big Bear Lake Resort Association, announced today the appointment of Rick Shoup as the Resort Association’s new CEO. Shoup replaces Ken Brengle, who informed the Board of his resignation as he has accepted the CEO position for the Torrance Chamber of Commerce. In a statement, Reed says, “We thank Ken for the professionalism and growth that his leadership has provided the RA. We are thrilled to have Rick step in and continue to build on that success.” Since 1992, Shoup has been the President of The Advice Group, a marketing consulting firm located in Sherman Oaks. In that capacity, Shoup facilitated the planning of the Big Bear Lake Resort Association before its inception in 1994, and has worked as the RA’s marketing consultant since 1996. Prior to his 17 years with the Advice Group, Shoup worked as a senior executive for major Los Angeles advertising agencies. As Reed elaborates, “We interviewed all potential candidates within the organization and determined Rick’s depth of experience as a marketer and manager, along with his knowledge of the RA, make him an excellent choice that will provide us with a seamless transition.” For his part, the RA’s new CEO Shoup says, “I am looking forward to leading in the continual development and growth of the RA. I am eager to become more involved in the Big Bear community.”
