Registered voters should have received a sample ballot from the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters, as these were mailed in April’s second week. Those not registered in time for the initial mailing will, later this month, be included in the second mailing of sample ballots for the statewide special election on May 19. The upcoming election does not include any offices specific to Big Bear, but does include a number of statewide measures, including Proposition 1F, which would prevent pay increases for elected officials during budget deficit years. The last day to register to vote, or update address information, for the May 19 election is Monday, May 4; voter registration cards are available at the post office or the Big Bear Library, once it re-opens later this week.
