Refuse Fees Protest Hearing Only Gets 21 Letters

Big Bear, Ca, July 26, 2011, 4:00pm – At yesterday’s meeting of the Big Bear Lake City Council the protest hearing for potential raising of refuse fees for improved residential parcels took place.  The city only received 21 letters against the increase, which falls far short of the 2500 needed.  Council decided that because the protest fell short of the requirements, that they would introduced an ordinance to adopt the fiscal year 2011-2012 refuse fees for this year with a 2% increase this year, and a 5% increase in the following two years. This means next years fees per equivalent dwelling unit would be $285.69, the following fiscal year refuse fees would go up to $299.97 and in fiscal year 2013 – 2014 would go up to $314.97.
