Parents, if you are still seeking before and after-school care for your child, the Rainbow Kids Club program offered by the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District still has space available. Rainbow Kids Club operates from three school sites—Baldwin Lane Elementary, Big Bear Elementary, and North Shore Elementary—for students in grades kindergarten through sixth. According to Lorie Judd of Rec and Park, “For only $20 a week in the morning and $40 a week in the afternoon, you can have peace of mind knowing that your children are well cared for, having a good time with their friends, eating a healthy snack, and getting help with their homework. As a major plus, registered RKC kids have a fun place to go on those stressful minimum and snow days.” For families in need, Soroptimists International of Big Bear Valley provides scholarships covering up to half of the cost; scholarships can be applied for through the Rec and Park offices, located on Park Avenue. Each student who enrolls for Rainbow Kids Club will receive a free t-shirt when they join. For more information, call 866-9700.
