Big Bear Lake, CA, September 28, 2012, noon – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous prescription drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station on Saturday, September 29th, from 10am to 2pm. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Many people are not aware that medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will have twelve stations participating with the collection of these unused prescription medications. They will be open on Saturday, September 29th, from 10am until 2pm and no appointment is necessary. The Sheriff’s Department encourages every citizen to look in their homes for any old, unused prescription medication and bring them to the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station at 477 Summit Boulevard in Big Bear Lake Saturday between 10am and 2pm. If you have any questions, call the Sheriff’s Public Affairs Division at 387-3700.
