Big Bear Lake, CA, February 6, 2013 – Fire Crews from the U. S. Forest Service will be burning slash and debris piles in the Big Bear area near Club View and Forest Service Road 2N10 during the day today. Smoke may be visible in the Big Bear Valley area. According to the Forest Service, the controlled burns are part of their on-going community protection fuels reduction program. Ignition of all prescribed burns is dependent on the availability of personnel and equipment, appropriate conditions, and in coordination with the National Weather Service and South Coast Air Quality Management District before and during prescribed burns in order to manage smoke production and minimize impacts as much as possible.
