Big Bear, Ca, April 25, 2011, 12:00PM – Big Bear High School Parents in Support of Academics (PSA) are one step closer to helping the High School get a new marquee. In the last two years, the group has organized an auction to raise funds for the new marquee, that will replace the old one, which was blown off last year during a windstorm. Last year they raised $10,000, and this year raised $9,500 towards the marquee cost which is around $30,000. In addition to their fundraising, some of the different graduating classes have donated funds, as well as the Associated Student Body (ASB). Nicole Natzic, the President of the organization, told KBHR that they are close to their goal and hope to see the new marquee in place in the fall of this year. Natzic also told KBHR that she and the rest of the organization would like to thank all the people and businesses that made their annual spring auction a tremendous success. The group believes that a new digital marquee will be an important communications tool, a learning opportunity for students and a source of advertising revenue for the school.
