The Big Bear Lake chapter of AARP will offer a special opportunity for seniors when, on August 17 and 18, the AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered to drivers ages 50 and over. The two-day class, which has been around for 25 years and helped millions of drivers to date, will provide an update on the rules of the road, as well as offering tips to adjust to age-related physical changes and help reduce the potential for traffic violations and driving-related injuries. Those who graduate from the two-day Driver Safety Program will receive a certificate upon completion, which may translate into insurance premium discounts. The class, offered from noon to 4pm on the 17th and 9am to 1pm on the 18th, will be held at the Big Bear Senior Center and pre-registration is required. Cost for the course is $12 for AARP members, and $14 for non-members, due by August 10. Checks should be mailed to Caryl Cole, District Coordinator/Instructor, AARP Driver Safety Program, 18766 Kitman Road, Apple Valley, CA 92308. Questions can be directed to Howard Langford, President of AARP Chapter 2598, at 585-5174.
