Big Bear, Ca, October 20, 2011, 8:00am – The Sierra Club Big Bear group is making it easier for you to have an energy efficient home, as they will host their Green Energy Symposium tonight. The meeting will take place at 6:30pm at the Discovery Center, and will feature local speakers who have expertise in green energy, including, wind, solar, and creating an energy efficient home. Peter Pearson from Bear Valley Electric will be on hand to update attendees on new regulations and standards, and what is coming in the future. Local electrician, Bob Ludecke will be talking about wind systems that he has installed, including his own. Larry Winslow, the Fire Captain at the Baldwin Lake Fire Department, will provide his knowledge of energy efficient houses, including using structurally insulated panels, and the use of wind turbines. Captain John, of Fawn Harbor and Marina, will speak on how his home doesn’t use any electricity at all, and how he has made his home so energy efficient, he can heat it with a candle or two. The Green Energy Symposium is free to the public, and everyone is invited to attend.
