Big Bear, Ca, June 28, 2011, 9:00am – At last night’s meeting of the Big Bear Lake City Council, it was announced that Fire Chief Jeff Willis will take over command of both the Big Bear City and Big Bear Lake Fire Departments. He will split his time as Fire Chief for Big Bear City Fire, and as the Interim Fire Chief for Big Bear Lake Fire Department. Willis will handle the duties of Fire Chief while other decisions are being made whether there will be a merger between the two stations, or if the fire departments will be taken over by county or CalFire. Fire Chief Jeff Willis will take over the Big Bear Lake Fire Department once Current Chief Rod Ballard departs Big Bear Lake Fire as the outgoing chief.
