Sugarloaf/Big Bear City, CA — A residential structure fire in Sugarloaf last night resulted in the arrest of the home’s occupant, per a press release from the Big Bear City Fire Department, which reads: “The Big Bear City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of Sunset Lane in Sugarloaf at approximately 7pm on March 2. Upon arrival of fire crews, active flames could be seen coming from the interior of the house. The fire was extinguished and called under control within 10 minutes. Big Bear City Fire Department, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Building and Safety, and Code Enforcement were at this property earlier in the day [Tuesday] to cite violations. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Fire and Arson team conducted the fire investigation. The occupant of the house was arrested at the time of the fire for suspected arson. Once the fire was completely extinguished, the scene was turned over to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. No injuries occurred as a result of this fire. Big Bear Lake and San Bernardino County Fire Departments were also on scene to assist with extinguishing the fire.
