Big Bear folks will today have the opportunity to “give the gift of life,” as the Lifestream bloodmobile will be at Stater Bros. from 11am to 3pm. Healthy individuals at least 15 years of age may donate blood (though teens will need parental consent); those who donate blood will receive a free mini-physical as part of the process, which takes about an hour. Those who donate blood today also have an opportunity to help a local 12-year-old in need. Prompted by a challenge to Mr. Haston’s sixth grade class at Baldwin Lane Elementary, donors can give in the name of Mariah Baldwin; should enough individuals donate in her name, her family will be credited the $700 they spent to store pints of her blood for a surgery scheduled for June 23.
