Forest Road 2N10 to Receive Face Lift

San Bernardino, Ca, September 2, 2010, 12:00pm – The San Bernardino National Forest will be reconstructing portions of 2N10 at the junction of Mill Creek Road near Big Bear Lake beginning Tuesday, September 7 and continuing for approximately 60 days.  The road project entails road reconditioning, construction and repair to drainage structures, aggregate surfacing, and short sections of asphalt paving along nearly five miles of Forest Road 2N10, which begins on the west end, one mile south of the intersection of Mill Creek Road at Tulip Lane and travels east across the ridgeline south of Big Bear.  The road ends at Club View Drive near Bear Mountain Ski Area.  The first phase of the project will begin on the west end near Tulip Lane improving four miles of the road from the intersection of Camp Cedar Lake to the intersection of 2N11.  Once that’s complete, the second phase will focus on an approximate one-mile stretch from the end of the road to the ridge top just south of the intersection with 2N10E. While traveling on 2N10, forest visitors should avoid travel in the reconstruction areas and plan for extra travel time as sections of the road will be closed to public traffic while work is being performed.  Also, use caution on the main roadways and watch for heavy equipment traveling to and from the worksite.  Materials for the road surface will come from the Big Bear Dam Bridge project and processed near Baldwin Lake.  Once processed, materials will be hauled to the project site and placed on the reconditioned roadway, providing a finished native road surface.
