Big Bear Lake will likely get a new newsrack ordinance, pending a final vote by the City Council of Big Bear Lake this evening, as Council meets for their regular third-Monday-of-the-month meeting in Hofert Hall at 6:30pm. This evening’s meeting will also include a presentation on the Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority, or MARTA, provided by the transit agency’s General Manager Kathy Hawksford. A Public Hearing item agendized as an appeal on the tract map application for a 26-lot subdivision on Mill Creek Road will also go before City Council; the 6.69 acre parcel subdivision at the top of Red Ant Hill was approved by the Planning Commission in November, though with 76 conditions of approval. The application was since appealed by the Friends of Fawnskin, the Sierra Club, the San Bernardino Audobon Society and the Center for Biological Diversity. The subdivision applicant Talmadge Brothers has since asked to go before the Planning Commission again, and City Council will review and make a decision on whether or not to remand that request.
