Big Bear Lake, CA, November 28, 2011, 8:00am – On November 30th, the Big Bear Sheriff’s Department will conduct a free training program for all merchants and staff that sell or serve alcohol in the Big Bear area. The Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) Program training will reinforce all rules and regulations in compliance with Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) standards. Local merchants that take part will be trained in one 4-hour afternoon session. Big Bear Recovery Services, an organization that conducts outpatient and court-ordered treatment programs for people with problems associated with alcohol and drug abuse, encourages every merchant and their staff to attend. Bonnie Shaffer, Prevention Coordinator at Big Bear Recovery Services Breakthrough Task Force wants to thank the Big Bear Sheriff’s Department for taking pro-active measures in bringing hands-on training to local merchants at a time when sales of alcoholic beverages will increase due to holiday celebrations. Through law enforcement education, local merchants will receive the most up-to-date information on compliance issues.
