Crime Rates Have Dropped Valley Wide From Previous Year

Big Bear, Ca, February 9, 2011, 3:00pm –The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Big Bear Station is happy to report that crime rates are down throughout the Big Bear Valley from last year.  In the City of Big Bear Lake, crime has seen a reduction in 25%, and the rest of the Big Bear Valley has seen crime rates drop 8%.  In 2010, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to 27,361 calls for service throughout the Valley and made 1,277 arrests for adult bookings.  The Big Bear Station is comprised of 30 sworn personnel serving the law enforcement needs of the City of Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Fawnskin, Baldwin Lake, Sugarloaf, Erwin Lake, and Lake Williams.  Jurisdictional lines triangulate from Lakeview point in the Arctic Circle to the Mitsubishi plant on Highway 18, to Southfork on Highway 38.  Captain Garland attributes the reduction in crime rates within the Big Bear Valley to the proactive efforts of deputies and volunteers of the Big Bear Sheriff Station stating, “Good crime prevention is accomplished by interaction between law enforcement personnel and the community members they serve.  Numerous criminal arrests were made last year as a direct result of information provided to our deputies and detectives by residents of the Valley.  The support of the community is appreciated.”
