With flu season upon us, the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health recommends seasonal flu shots, particularly for children (ages six months and older), individuals over 50 years of age, pregnant women, those with chronic medical conditions, caregivers, and those who live in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. The Health Department will be offering the seasonal flu vaccine at clinics throughout the county, and, just a reminder, will visit Big Bear on Monday, October 5, from 10am to noon. Though at the Big Bear Senior Center, the flu clinic is open to Valley residents of all ages, with flu shots being offered at $10 each, cash only. Given limited parking at the Senior Center, appointments are recommended by calling 584-0323, though walk-ins will be welcomed. The seasonal flu shots being offered on Monday are not for the H1N1 virus (formerly known as the swine flu), as vaccines for H1N1 will likely be unavailable until mid-month.
