County Supervisors to Potentially Approve Sale of Tax-Defaulted Properties to the San Bernardino Land Trust

San Bernardino County Supervisors meet for their regular meeting at the San Bernardino County Government Center this morning at 10am. Today’s agenda offers County Supervisors the opportunity to approve the sale of tax defaulted properties to the San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust. Properties that have been tax defaulted for five years or more (to taxing agencies or non-profit organizations), and have been offered for sale at least once with no acceptable bids, are eligible for sale by the Tax Collector, per Chapter 8 of the State of California Revenue and Taxation Code. The ten tax defaulted parcels in question will, if approved, be purchased by the San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust—per the Supervisors’ agenda, the intent of the Land Trust is to preserve the natural open space values and wildlife habitat on each parcel, all of which are located within the San Bernardino National Forest.
