Third District County Supervisor Neil Derry announced today that he has accepted the resignation of his now former Chief of Staff Jim Erwin, who resigned at about 6pm last night, March 23. In a meeting with his staff at the County Government Center this morning, Supervisor Derry announced, “It’s the right thing to do for the County, for the Third District, and for Jim.” Erwin’s resignation follows his being place on administrative leave last week, which was prompted by an arrest issued by San Bernardino District Attorney Michael Ramos on Thursday. Per Derry’s office, there are no prospects to hire a new chief of staff at this time, though Derry staff member Steve Hauer will assist the supervisor with day-to-day operations. As Supervisor Derry told his staff this morning, “We will continue to move forward.”
