County Supervisors to Allow for CalTrans to Install Changeable Message Signs at Base of Mountain Routes

Mountain visitors—and residents—will be privy to important road information before they head up the hill, thanks in part to a vote made by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in their August 11 meeting. CalTrans had applied for standard encroachment permits to allow for the placement of temporary changeable message signs to provide public health and safety warnings. Given the Supervisors’ approval, the three CalTrans signs will be placed on Highway 38, near Bryant Street and the Ranger Station at the base of the mountain; on Highway 18, just north of the upper Old Waterman Canyon Road crossing; and on Highway 330, across from the Ranger Station at the top of the first passing lane.
