San Bernardino County Supervisors, which only included three (Third District County Supervisor Neil Derry among them), unanimously approved the three Big Bear Valley-specific items on their July 28 agenda. The vacancy left by Dr. Don Eads on Fawnskin’s CSA 53B Commission, for sewer and fire, was accepted, and the office of Supervisor Derry will now to seek to fill that position, the term of which extends through January 2013. The proposed identity theft prevention program for the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District was also approved, and is scheduled to be implemented in August; the new identity theft program, which is also being implemented at Bloomington Rec & Park, will protect consumers while also meeting new Federal Trade Commission requirements. County Supervisors yesterday also awarded the Sugarloaf roads slurry seal project to Bond Blacktop, Inc. of Union City; this project will cost an estimated $291,000 and will cover unspecified roads in Sugarloaf and other unincorporated portions of the Big Bear Valley.
