Big Bear Lake, CA, June 6, 2012, 7:00pm – There has been a lot of discussion about the new open primary system for California voters and perhaps some confusion. Previously the election ballot a voter received was determined by party affiliation. But now the new ballots include all candidates regardless of their declared party affiliation. The primary included elections effecting the Big Bear Valley for the United States Congress, the California State Assembly and the Third District County Supervisor. The voter turnout was low across the state and in San Bernardino County was determined to be 22.52%. With that the Congressional 8th District winners were Paul Cook and Gregg Imus who took the top spots and will move on to the General Election in November. In the 33 State Assembly District Tim Donnelly, an incumbent, and John Coffey will be on the ballot in fall. Big Bear Lake Mayor Bill Jahn said “he put his heart and soul into his campaign”, for State Assembly and that he “worked very hard and has no regrets”. In the race for The Third District County Supervisor candidates James Ramos and Neil Derry will be on the ballot on November 6th.
