The Community Services District’s Water Department took center stage at this week’s meeting of their Board of Directors as the department overseen by Water Superintendent Tim Moran earned CSD’s second quarter Safety Award. The quarterly award is given to the CSD department, including those within the Big Bear City Fire Department, for attendance at weekly and/or monthly safety classes, housekeeping, reporting, and incident rates based on risk. In addition to the award to the Water Department, the department’s Greg Ricketts was singled out for CSD’s Service Recognition Award. Ricketts, who has been with CSD 20 years this week, was described by General Manager Mike Mayer as “a conscientious, hard-working employee, who is enjoyable to work with.” CSD water, at least insomuch as the draft Water Master Plan is concerned, was also addressed—though not on the agenda for the July 6 meeting, CSD constituents did comment on recent reports regarding the plan presented on June 1. Mayer pointed out that the CSD Water Committee and staff are reviewing the draft document in July, then comment will be submitted to Daniel B. Stephens & Associates, and that a final report is expected sometime in August. As expressed by Mayer, “We would be happy to listen to any and all comments that the DWP or anyone may have [but] we would like people to be patient, to allow us the review period on this important document. It is important that the right message gets out: the CSD has no problem working with the DWP.”
