Big Bear, Ca, February 10, 2011, 8:00am – Effective March 12, 2011, current commander of the Big Bear and Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Stations, Captain Greg Garland, will transfer to the Bureau of Administration Division of the Sheriff’s Department headquartered in San Bernardino. Captain Garland began his career with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in 1983 as a volunteer reserve deputy, and then worked in corrections at Central Detention Center after completing the Sheriff’s Academy. Following his assignment at the jail, most of Captain Garland’s patrol time was spent in the high desert area. He’s also worked at the Academy’s training facility, in the Specialized Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Division, and the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division. Garland was assigned as commander of the Big Bear station in March, 2008 when he was promoted to the rank of Captain. In March, 2010, Captain Garland also assumed command of the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station following the transfer of Captain Tony Nicassio from Twin Peaks to the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
