City Council To Finalize Signs & Outdoor Display Ordinance at August 22nd Meeting

Big Bear, Ca, August 10, 2011, 8:00am – At the August 8th meeting of the Big Bear Lake City Council, Council unanimously voted to move forward with submitting an application to be a host city for the 2012 Amgen Tour of California.  Council also is moving forward with the new ordinance for the standards for signs and outdoor displays of merchandise.  Revisions have been proposed to the definitions, procedures and design standards for signs, and includes the addition of incentives to allow increased sign area, regulation of electronic changeable copy, and the elimination of A-frame signs to reduce sign clutter.  This was the first reading of the ordinance with the second reading and possible adoption to take place at the August 22nd Council Meeting.
