The City of Big Bear Lake will, come Monday, recognize Building Safety Week and, given this year’s national theme, “Building and Safety… Where You Live, Work and Play,” Americans are encouraged to take appropriate steps to ensure that the places where we live, work, play and learn are safe. Jim Miller, the City’s Director of Building and Planning, says that during Building Safety Week, “I always like to take this opportunity to recognize those people who work toward our safety, silently behind the scenes.” In honor of International Building and Safety Week, from May 3 – 9, the City will host the 11th annual Building and Safety Open House on Thursday, May 7, from 5 to 7pm at the Civic Center, located at 39707 Big Bear Boulevard. The two-hour open house will include 20 vendors in a convention-like setting, and representatives from the City’s Code, Engineering, Planning, Building and Safety Departments will also be in attendance, to answer questions. The 5pm event will be preceded by a one-hour seminar, starting at 4pm, which will focus on CBC Building Codes.
