Big Bear, Ca, January 19, 2012, 4:00pm – The Citizen’s on Patrol for the San Bernardino County, Big Bear Sheriffs Station received a generous donation in October of last year. The Citizen on Patrol, a safety volunteer organization, was given a 2012 4×4 Jeep Wrangler for their patrol fleet. The donor is David Stone, owner of Wolf Creek Resort, Bear Creek Resort, and Fireside Lodge in Big Bear Lake. Stone told KBHR that he made the donation because it was how he was raised, that he was taught to give back to the community. The new Jeep becomes the sixth vehicle in the COP patrol fleet, allowing for more units to cover more territory. The Big Bear Valley Citizens on Patrol currently consists of 48 public safety volunteers, who last year collectively put in 19,768 volunteer hours. According to Tiffany Swantek, Public Information Officer for the Big Bear Sherriff’s Station, the COP members act as the eyes and ears of the Sheriff’s Department, by performing daily neighborhood patrols, conducting vacation checks, help with traffic control and local community events, as well as other duties. The Citizens on Patrol were very appreciative and grateful for the wonderful donation.
