Starting at 6pm this evening and through Sunday, November 29, the California Highway Patrol will have every available officer on the road for the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel weekend. During the four-day travel period, CHP officers will be focused on seatbelt violators and DUI enforcement. “Wearing a seatbelt is the easiest and quickest way to save a life,” says CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “It takes two seconds to buckle up.” Given the likelihood of increased traffic, travelers are reminded to allow extra time, and it is always a good idea to carry snacks and water on your trip, as well as tire chains, which are required for those traveling in the mountains during the winter months. Adds Farrow, “The roadways get crowded during the four-day weekend and on the day after Thanksgiving with holiday shopping traffic congestion. The message is simple: drive safe, sober and remember to buckle up.”
Per CalTrans, there is no planned maintenance work within the Inland Empire through 6pm Monday evening and, an added bonus for those traveling Interstate 15, all lanes are open, as the project incorporating new asphalt and wider shoulders was completed on Tuesday, November 24.
