The community is invited to participate in the 60th annual Old Miners’ Days celebration—and before the events even get underway. A planning meeting, to organize this summer’s activities, will be held on Monday, March 2 and, per Old Miners’ Association President Tony Sundvall, everyone is welcome. “We’re switching the schedule up a little bit this year, “Sundvall tells KBHR, “and our first event will be the Chili Cook-Off which, in years past, used to kick off the Old Miners’ festivities. So, this year, the Chili Cook-Off will be July 11, and we’ll still have the Old Miners’ Days Parade on the first Sunday in August.” During this Monday’s 5:30pm meeting, to be held at Boo Bears restaurant in the Village, the Old Miners’ Association will also make plans for the annual bowling fundraiser, which takes place at the Bowling Barn prior to the summer events.
