Caltrans will host a public information meeting for the State Route 18 safety-widening project. The section of Highway 18 proposed for widening is in front of the Big Bear City Airport from Blue Water Drive at Circle K to Pinon Drive at Thelma’s Restaurant. Additional work proposed by Caltrans for that section of the roadway includes re-striping the intersection to provide for a left-turn lane at the intersection of Big Bear Boulevard and Big Tree Drive at the Big Bear City Airport and to provide 8 foot paved shoulders on the north side of the highway. A public information meeting is being held to provide information about the project and to receive public comment. Caltrans would like to hear your thoughts on the project’s purpose and need, alternatives being considered, issues to be addressed in the Initial Study and other project issues. The public information meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 3rd at 6 to 8pm at the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency Conference Room located at 121 Palomino Drive in Big Bear City.
