Big Bear, CA, January 18, 2016 – The Big Bear Valley Unified School District’s regular Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, at 6:00 p.m. at Big Bear Middle School, immediately following the welcome reception for Dr. Mary Suzuki. Among the items on the agenda, the board will recommend the Governing Board approve the Certification of Board Minutes effective January 4, 2016 and December 18, 2015. These minutes regard personnel changes with the departure from BVUSD of Mr. Ronald B. Peavy, Interim Superintendent of Schools, effective December 18, 2015, and the arrival of Dr. Mary Suzuki as the new Superintendent of Schools effective January 4, 2016. This necessitates the Governing Board to take action to delegate specific authority to ensure the seamless and successful on-going business continuity of the district. The Governing Board took action on December 9, 2015 to employ Dr. Mary Suzuki in the position of Superintendent of Schools.
The Board will also discuss a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bear Valley Unified School District and the San Bernardino County Probation Department establishing guidelines for use of the Probation Department’s Narcotics Detection Canines at school sites. They will also recommend abolishing the Transportation Supervisor position due to the resignation of Gail Hastain, effective December 31, 2016 and the creation of the Transportation Manager position by board action on September 16, 2015. Mr. Kyle Walker has been employed in the Transportation Manager Position.
The Bear Valley USD Board will also recommend action on hiring or replacing persons for positions of teacher’s aides, administrative support, coaches and nutrition services. For a complete look at Wednesday’s agenda please follow this link, BVUSD Agenda.
