Big Bear, CA, June 10, 2016 – Bear Valley Electric Service has announced that customers will see a slight decrease in their electric bills due to a supply adjustment credit and a base adjustment rate reduction that both went into effect May 1.
The credit adjustment is the result of BVES acquiring purchased power at a lower cost than previously projected. After realizing that there was a surplus of funds for purchased power, Bear Valley Electric Service contacted the California Public Utilities Commission and requested that the additional money be credited back to BVES customers.
“Our team is committed to purchasing energy at the best prices possible for the power we bring to the Big Bear community,” said BVES Director Harry Scarborough. “We are very excited to be able to pass on these savings directly to our customers.”
Customers will receive a credit on their account over the next 24 months based on their current monthly usage. The average customer will see a total savings of approximately $130.
Additionally, BVES just received approval from the California Public Utilities Commision to terminate an amortized rate for 2012 revenue shortfall which will reduce customer bills by approximately $40 annually. The rate reduction will be applied to customer bills as of May 1.
Customers seeking additional information about the rate reduction can contact BVES’ customer service representatives directly at (800) 808-BVES.
