San Bernardino, CA, April 13, 2013 – The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors passed an item at the April 9 board meeting that will provide job skills to County inmates. As a result of the board’s decision, the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center will now have an additional instructor for the Sheriff’s Inmate Culinary Program. The county offers more than 25 classes through the Sheriff’s Department InROADS program, which helps inmates attain
employment and ease their transition upon release. Students who successfully complete the program receive a Certificate in Competency in Restaurant Occupations from the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and a Food Handler’s Certificate from the County’s Department of Public Health. The InROADS program also offers bakery, print shop, landscaping, computer and other vocational classes to inmates.
