The long-awaited Big Bear Library remodeling project has been completed and, after a three week closure, the library on Garstin Drive in Big Bear Lake re-opens to the public at 10:30am today (April 22). Upgrades to the library, paid for by San Bernardino County and contributions from Friends of the Library, include fresh paint, new carpet, a new security system, additional public computers, and a new circulation desk that will allow for self check-out. As Head Librarian Pamela Heiman told us just prior to the April 2 closure, “The most exciting thing about our new remodel will be the new circulation system, self check-out and the new security system. Hopefully the new check-out system will eliminate some standing in line, and save time.” The first public program available at the almost-opened library will be a children’s Earth Day program, offered at 4pm this afternoon.
