In addition to literacy classes for adults and other special programs, the Big Bear Library also has a series of special activities for children and teens, including a special holiday event planned for this Thursday. On first and third weeks of the month, the Big Bear Library hosts Teen Tuesdays, for those ages 12 through 17; the next Teen Tuesday, during which time there are book discussions, crafts, speakers and snacks, is this evening at 6:30pm. For younger children, through age 5, the library on Garstin Drive offers programs on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of each week. Young children and their parents are welcomed to Wednesday’s Smart Story Time, which begins at 10am; each Thursday at 10am is Library Day for young readers; and each Friday, also at 10am, is Fun-tastic Fridays Preschool Story Time. This year’s special holiday program, offered on December 17 at 4pm, will include a reading of Charles Dickens’s “The Christmas Carol” and cookie decorating; Thursday’s holiday program is said to be appropriate for preschool and school-age children.
