A one-time defensible space workshop will be held at the Big Bear Lake Fire Department tomorrow, April 21. This 1pm general workshop is open to all landscapers, loggers, property managers, handymen and others involved in creating defensible space and vegetation removal. According to David Yegge, the fire department’s Fire Fuels Program Coordinator, “This year’s fire hazard abatement requirements have changed again. If you’re a business involved in creating defensible space, plan to attend this one-time informative workshop to receive information on behalf of your customers for what needs to be done step-by-step to ensure compliance with the City’s and County’s hazard abatement requirements.” Attendees at the free workshop, held at the Big Bear Lake Fire Department at 41090 Big Bear Boulevard, will learn how to assess a property for wildfire safety that not only includes the front, back and side yards, but also from the structure’s foundation to the rooftop.
