Bear Backers Raise Funds for School Athletics

Big Bear, Ca April 29, 2011 12:00 pm – Since the 1960’s the Bear Backers have been raising money to support Big Bear High School athletics programs.  In past years, the all-volunteer organization has raised thousands of dollars to support the sports teams at the high school.  Because of severe budget cuts, this year’s fundraising efforts will go primarily to transporting athletes to their away games and scholarships the Bear Backers will award student athletes at the end of this school year.  Tonight’s Bingo fundraiser will help the organization fulfill their goals.  Tickets include dinner provided by the Sonora Cantina and bingo cards.  Prizes include 10 games with $100 giveaways and silent auction items.  The festivities begin with a happy hour and no host bar at 6:30.  Rose Rehfuss, the Fundraising Chair says that tickets will be available at the door.  The event is for ages 21 and older.
