Four local fire departments responded to a structure fire at a single family residence in Baldwin Lake yesterday evening in the 6 o’clock hour and first responders on scene were the volunteers of the Baldwin Lake Volunteer Fire Department, who battled the blaze on the two-story wooden structure until crews from County Fire Station #49 in Fawnskin and the Big Bear City and Big Bear Lake Fire Departments arrived at the site in the 45400 block of Baldwin Lake Road. County Fire Captain Doug Simpson tells KBHR that the fire was held to a single bedroom on the second story of the unoccupied home, and that crews managed to knock it out in about 10 minutes time. Though the home was not destroyed, there is severe smoke damage throughout and County Fire is investigating the cause.
