Big Bear Lake, CA, June 19th, 2016 – A new dog licensing fee schedule for all unincorporated county areas and the cities of Big Bear Lake, Highland and Yucaipa will go into effect on July 1. County Animal Care and Control tries to keep fees as low as possible for county residents. Dog licensing fees for altered (spayed or neutered) dogs haven’t been raised since 2007. Although altered dog licensing fees will increase, discounts will still exist for senior citizens and persons with one or more disabilities who have altered pets.
Proof of Spay/Neuter certificate and senior citizen or disability status are required to receive discounts. There are also discounts for purchasing a multi-year altered dog license. Animal Care and Control recommends that all dogs be spayed or neutered to help control the homeless animal population. Spaying/Neutering is mandatory in the unincorporated county areas and in the cities of Highland and Yucaipa for Pit Bull and Pit Bull-type dogs. Financial assistance for spaying and neutering dogs and cats may be available by calling the Pet OverPopulation Coalition (POPCO) at (888) 767-2550 or by visiting popco.org.
