The Big Bear Amateur Radio Club was established in 1975 to further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote knowledge, and assist all persons who desire to learn and become proficient at Morse Code, radio and electronic theory and ultimately become FCC licensed Radio Amateur Operators. From time to time BBARC sponsors an 8-hour school to help potential licensees prepare to take the FCC license tests. The next course is set for March 28-30 at the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce Conference Room – with the actual FCC test at noon on March 30.
Attendance at the class does not guarantee an individual will pass the license exam and earn an Amateur radio license. Students must study the Gordon West Technician Class FCC License Preparation (6th Edition) and take several on-line practice tests before attending the class. The practice tests are online at www.qrz.com/p/testing.pl. The book will be the foundation for the 8-hour course, and 20-30 hours of studying are recommended before class.
The BBARC is an affiliated club member of the American Radio Relay League. To learn more, visit www.bbarc.org, or to register for this month’s classes, call (909) 553-3564.
