The Board of Directors of the Big Bear Airport District convenes for a special meeting tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. The closed session meeting is with regard to public employee appointment for the general manager position. In July, the Airport Board began advertising for the position, placing ads in regional publications as well as with the American Association of Airport Executives. Interim General Manager Dick Lightner, who returned to his former GM post in May (when the Board opted not to renew the contract of then-GM Garry Dokter), says that the field has been narrowed to seven candidates, just one of which currently resides in the Big Bear Valley. The Board is planning to make their selection of a general manager in tomorrow’s special meeting, to be held in the airport pilots lounge.
