Big Bear Lake, CA, December 17, 2014 – Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to a call of an apparent accidental shooting in Big Bear Lake. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 27-year-old male at the location with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was treated at the scene by paramedics of the Big Bear Fire Dept. and transported to Loma Linda Medical Center for further treatment. Detectives continue to investigate this matter.
According to the California Department of Justice, there are six basic safety rules for firearms owners to understand and practice at all times:
Treat all guns as if they are loaded; Keep the gun pointed in the safest possible direction; Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot; Know your target, its surroundings and beyond; Know how to properly operate your gun; And store your gun safely and securely to prevent unauthorized use.
