In other news from this week’s Big Bear Lake City Council meeting, all items on the May 11 Consent Calendar were approved, including the increase to the New Development Mitigation Fee. This item received a dissenting vote from Councilmember Darrell Mulvihill, who explained, “I don’t think we, as a city, should raise any fees at this time, because this isn’t the only fee over the last several months that’s been increased.” Other items on the Consent Calendar, each of which received Council’s unanimous support, included the following: Trinity Construction of Blue Jay was awarded the contract to do the Red Ant Hill sidewalk project (to be completed by June’s end); professional services agreements were approved for Chuck’s Home Inspection and Big Bear Cabin Care to do transient private home rental inspections for the City; and the consideration of a $53 standby charge for properties without water service within the DWP’s service area was approved, and will next be addressed in a Public Hearing on June 8. As City Council’s next regularly scheduled meeting falls on Memorial Day, the May 25 meeting has been adjourned; Council’s next regular meeting will be held on Monday, June 8 at 6:30pm in Hofert Hall.
