Big Bear Lake, CA — Event organizers say that the Big Bear Walk MS event was a community effort at its best! As Jennifer Gaylord with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society tells KBHR, “Everyone rallied around the movement to end Multiple Sclerosis. North Shore Elementary hosted the start and finish festivities, Kiwanis manned a rest stop, the Lions were first on site to make sure there was hot coffee and donuts for all, and the Moose Lodge helped with set-up, the route, registration and a fabulous raffle. A core committee led for the sixth year by Dave Emig worked all year to pull all these groups and more together.” The National MS Society has been overwhelmingly pleased with Big Bear’s effort to support Walk MS for, now, six years along the Alpine Pedal Path. Over 400 participants—and their dogs—turned out for Saturday’s walk and, to date, have raised over $45,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; contributions from last year’s walk continued to come in into July, so these numbers may grow. Just the same, Big Bear can be proud that, in the space of six years, we have generated over $425,000 to support MS research.
