Big Bear Lake, CA, October 15, 2012 – The Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013 budget.
BBARWA’s Finance Manager, Jennifer McCullar, was also awarded a certificate of Recognition for her role in the agency’s nationally recognized accomplishment. McCullar stated in a press release, “It is an honor to receive this award again. Every year for the past five years, we have achieved national recognition for our outstanding budget presentations. I have always believed that our method of budget reporting utilizes the best practices available, and again this has been confirmed by the GFOA.”
In order to receive the budget award, the Agency had to satisfy nationally recognized expert’s guidelines. BBARWA’s budget presentation rated “proficient or outstanding” in all four categories designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as (1) a policy document, (2) a financial plan, (3) an operations guide, and (4) a communications device, as well as “proficient or outstanding” in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.
